Red Mangrove has pioneered a land-based multi-island alternative to exploring the Galapagos Islands, previously a cruise-only destination.

Red Mangrove Galapagos & Ecuador Lodges is Ecuador’s leading hospitality Company for active adventure. Founded in 2007 by Hernan Rodas, Red Mangrove has pioneered a land-based multi-island alternative to exploring the Galapagos Islands, previously a cruise-only destination.

The Company now boasts 3 upscale waterfront Lodges and 2 purpose-built Dive Lodges strategically located on the islands of Santa Cruz, Isabela and Floreana. The customary way to experience Red Mangrove’s hospitality is to spend a number of nights on each island accessed by small boat and/or aircraft and discover the beauty of Ecuador’s mainland.

Red Mangrove walks the talk with habitat preservation and responsible stewardship. Accommodations and operations adhere to and often exceed the most stringent of environmental standards. Out of respect for the local community, Red Mangrove has helped native fishermen find alternative livelihoods through tourism by utilizing a fleet of former fishing boats for transportation and sightseeing. Other outreach projects include support of a Family Health Program initially serving families of employees on the Isabela Island, assisting with dental health programs in public schools and a care program for horses at risk in Puerto Villamil.

Galapagos Lodges

Red Mangrove Aventura Lodge

Originally built in 1995, Aventura Lodge is located in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, and within minutes of the Charles Darwin Research Station. It has a unique architectural design, blending the mangrove forest with its seafront location. It was acquired in 2007 by Red Mangrove and refurbished and now offers 14 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, with a fantastic seafront restaurant and bar with its deck a popular sunning spot for marine iguanas and sea lions. Pelicans and frigate birds drift overhead as they visit their nests in the mangroves and fish in the waters fronting the lodge.

Santa Cruz Divers Lodge

With its design is known as ‘Galapagoenian’, the walls and floors of Santa Cruz Divers Lodge were made from the islands’ own lava rock. Recycled ceramic tiles adorn the walls in the form of artwork, with images of sharks, rays and dolphins surrounding the garden and Jacuzzi. It’s located in a quiet area of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, just a few blocks from the Pelican Bay fishing market. The Lodge has just 9 rooms, with several of them standing out from volcanic rock of the island. The Lodge serves breakfast, only with lunch and dinner provided at the Red Mangrove Aventura Lodge.

Red Mangrove Isabela Lodge

Isabela Lodge is located on Isabela Island, the largest island in the Galapagos archipelago. Separated from the ocean only by a broad, white sand, palm-lined beach, the oceanfront Isabela Lodge has a beautiful wooden deck by the sea for all to enjoy as well as a roof top terrace with sea vistas for miles. The Lodge has just 8 rooms, offering an exclusive experience.

Isabela Divers Lodge

Isabela Divers Lodge was built with a linear design, with large windows to allow plenty of light to every room and offers spectacular views of Isabela. Located right on the beach and surrounded by palm trees and white sand, it offers just 5 comfortable rooms. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the relaxed ‘Coco Restaurant’ next to the Lodge.

Red Mangrove Floreana Lodge

Floreana Island is the least populated of Galapagos Islands, with a total number of 150 inhabitants living mainly in Puerto Velasco Ibarra. Located in Puerto Velasco Ibarra, Floreana Lodge is built entirely from pinewood, and is situated just steps from the ocean, constructed on a black lava field. 10 comfortable stand alone cabins and a small restaurant ensure guests have an amazing Galapagos experience, with snorkelling and swimming with sea turtles offered just off its beach (water conditions permitting).

At all Lodges, guests may choose from a selection of set itineraries of varying lengths or create their own private bespoke adventure. Daily activities include naturalist tours, wildlife viewing, snorkelling, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking and more. Red Mangrove is a certified PADI Dive Resort with the latest equipment, instructors and safety features. For divers, novice to advanced, Red Mangrove offers a wealth of options and packages.
